Reuse Plastic Bottle Caps

Plastic drink bottles pose a problem for environmentally-conscious folks: while the bottle itself can be recycled through almost any recycling program, the cap cannot.

A large amount plastic bottle caps are made of Type 5 plastic, or polypropylene, which is not received by most recycling programs. Special programs for Type 5 plastic recycling exist, but if you don't have one in your area, place your plastic caps to utilize by re-purposing them

On the top of a red bottle cap, draw a small black half-oval shape at the edge of the cap using a permanent marker. Use white glue to attach plastic eyes, which can be bought at craft stores, in the black half-oval.

Hold Beads or Paint
Plastic caps are valuable little art supplies, especially if you work small. To store, cover the caps with masking tape. Save paint by using plastic caps as paint holders for when you need to mix just a tiny amount. Plastic bottle caps are just the right size to use for board games. Make up rules, and use plain or painted plastic caps as playing pieces, currency or even dice: drop two or three caps on the board and move one space for each cap that's solid-side up.

Magnets
Place a cap upside down and place a small round magnet inside the cap. Remove the magnet from the cap. Use a craft knife to bore a hole in the top of several dozen plastic bottle caps in varying colors. Thread the bottle caps onto the pieces of string, tying a knot about every two inches to space the caps.
